New patrons must complete a membership registration card. There is no charge for registering.

Summer renters or boaters staying at one of the marinas may take out materials. They need to include both their Essex and permanent home addresses on the registration card. Summer residents provide this information as well.

Permanent residents of the towns in Clinton, Franklin, or Essex New York counties may also borrow books by filling out the membership registration card. They may be instructed to return books to their local libraries if they cannot return them here.

Books may be signed out for two weeks. They may be renewed and there is NO CHARGE for overdue books. There is a drop-off bin for book returns when the library is closed. If a patron cannot find a particular book or other material, it can be ordered through interlibrary loan.
